ALOHAAAA!!

Wooo! I had two gatherings during the holidays. One with my poly classmates, and the other with my close friends. Let me talk about the gathering with close friends first yeah.....

So we had a chalet at Aloha Changi for the gathering. Some of us have been classmates for five years. The rest,they were just close friends.

Upon arrival at fairy point 1, we munched on our Macdonalds while waiting for THE couple to collect the keys.

This time round, the chalet was further in and more secluded compared to last year. Upon srutinizing the area, we found a family of cats; a dead snake in the drain. AND the weather was scorching hot.

Anywae, i just recovered from a fever and still am experiencing sore throat during the chalet. That explains the lemon barley drink in the pictures! :P

So when THE couple came back with the keys, we went straight into the bungalow to 'book' our rooms.
And after that it was off to the BATHroom or toilet rather; cause everyone cannot tahan wanna urine!!

TWISTER TIME!

Night time came and ashik cooked for us dinner Italian style. Alfredo spaghetti was the dish!

Since there wasnt any nice shows on monday, besides amazing race..it was Lepak Time!

That night my voice was already becoming very 'fierce' and 'macho'. It sounded so hoarse, i became a victim of bullying. :(

I couldn't even play taboo with the lads.

So day two came and bbq was arriving. The charcoal we bought were ridiculous! It was as big as bamboo charcoal and it was kind of unbreakable! Shldn't hav bought it from that cheap store.

But on the hindsight, the food was great. We ordered the food from BBQ wholesale centre. You should try it the next time ure planning a bbq.

A tad too late i guess?

Anyway my new year this year was spent on a night out wif frens. On previous years, i would stay at home or go out with my sister. And i cant remember how i celebrated new year's eve last year...hmmm.......

So on the morning of 31st December 2008, i had to wake up early for SCHOOL! Sian....
School ended at at 12 and i went out wif troy after that. We wanted to check out this new shop called Retrosport. It has cool shirts for guys.

We went home after getting what we wanted. Btw, the day was soooo hot and it made me damn lethargic. I fell asleep as soon as i got home. And being me..i overslept! I was supposed to meet my friends at JE at 8pm, but i ended up reaching an hour later.

So we made our way down to city hall to meet anep. Anep suggested going to fort canning to hangout and watch the fireworks since there were many matreps in city hall.

Upon climbing gazillions of steps, we reached a nice spot under a tree. We settled down and talked and joked and played some stupid games. We also made some new year resolutions(which i hope i will adhere to).

As soon as the fireworks crackled in the sky, everyone in the park stood up to enjoy that moment. It was joyous to see everyone just standing there admiring the sky as thoughts of a new beginning lingered in our mind.

The fireworks ended and me and my friends were trying to be the first in everything. Shazni was the first to read a signboard in 2009. Halim was the first to scold 'F***' in 2009. Anep was the first to drink plain water in 2009. And i was the first to punch anep in 2009! Oh and i also saw a couple kissing, or rather they kissed as soon as the clock struck 12!

BIG 2!

3weeks ago, my niece, Syaniz Misha Suhaimi, celebrated her second birthday! Lets call her Syasha for short.

So my sister organised a mini birthday party for close relatives. My sister and her husband have been trying to rent a chalet ever since Syasha's 1st birthday. They were planning to hold the party there. But they often procrastinate till there aren't any available rooms left. The only place possible to hold a party now is at home.

That aside; when i reached my sister's house, there were already a group of people sitting outside. They were happily barbequeing some chicken wings and steak. Unfortunately, the birthday girl was still asleep. What's left was for me and my family members to try some of my sister's cooking.

Do you know that Syasha's favourite cartoon is Thomas and Friends? It is no wonder that most of her toys are Thomas and friends collectables! So while waiting for the birthday girl to wake up, i took the oppurtunity to play with them!!!!

BLAST FROM THE PAST!

So yesterday, i went for KIE's dinner and dance. Held at orchard hotel, it involved people from various keppel groups in Singapore. The theme for the night was....u guessed it!..blast from the past!!

Im sure all of you need no introduction to know who this lad is.

Anywae..the theme included act/dance/games from 19-20th century. Though the theme is very similar to my prom, i was still very excited and hyped up!

The event started of with a bang! When the show started, three vespas came out from the back of the hall;each bringing with them a lady as the pillion. After which, a couple of guys came pulling a rickshaw with an olden day 'chinese gangster'. Very good performance indeed!..of course, the people involved were part of the planning committee.

So with such a great start, im sure the rest of the event would be the same if not of a better standard rite? Unfortunately NOOOOT!!! To be honest, i did not like the emcee..and the way the event was being run; everything seemed very unprofessional. Though i do not want to criticise, i admit that i can do a better job. Besides, the hotel food wasnt that good either.

Maybe they did their best with the limited resources. I found out from Sylvia that they had wanted to get other emcee and hotel but everything was fully booked. So as a consolation, i think they did a good job in getting the props to suit the theme. Im sure this is a difficult thing to do. Oh and i loved the doorgift too!

The games involved different eras too! Since there were site workers, most of the games were played by indian nationals. They were the enthu ones! There was one game where they had to piggy-back a female dancer and do a horse race. Im sure the men were grinning from ear to ear. ( :

The D & D event ended with a special kind of game. The winner walks away with a 32inch plasma TV. Its coloured of coz! Oh btw, the 1st prize for the lucky draw was $3500 cash!..how i wish i had lady luck by my side then.....

SUNNY DAY!!

Not too long ago(about half a month lah),i went out with the bubu to city hall! Planned on visiting lots of places on that very short friday BUT, it was all just a dream. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves at city hall.

We started out with peninsular. Bubu wanted to buy a bag. As for me, i was just happy to window-shop. We explored the whole of peninsular till bubu finally got her bag. Oh my she was a happy girl indeed!

Of we went to get some oldchangkee and a bottled drink for our mini picnic. We headed down to war memorial park and almost immediately, we did wat we enjoy most......

It was such a hot day that i was literally sweating like a pig!..just look at our shadows!.. WAIT..do pigs sweat?

Anyway the heat did not dampen our spirits. We still managed to put a smile on our faces or in my case, acting fierce!

Before leaving, we tried to take a jumpshot photo of each other. It was kind of a challenge to see who could take the best photo.

Winner: ME! Yay!!! As a prize, i get to finish the bottle of pink dolphin. But as a nice guy, i gave it to her..hehe. :P

So after dat, it was zoom!..zoom! to swensens! It was kind of a late birthday treat because we did not have a proper birthday dinner together on her birthday.

The walk from memorial park to suntec city's swensens was an exhausting one. First of all, we chose not to use the underpass(dumb). Secondly, it was friggin HOT! I could barely open my eyes while walking which thus reminded me of someone..sorry anep..hehe.

She ordered BLACK PEPPER SEAFOOD PASTA.

I ordered SAMBAL FISH PASTA.

She was more interested in taking photos. I was more interested in eating.

HELLLLOOOOO PEOPLE!!

I have a friend whose name is Noel. In secondary school, we disturb him by calling him by his father's name. When i found out his mother's name, i pao toh-ed to my friends and we started calling him that.
Those were the days. If you were to see him outside, he looks like a bouncer from a stripclub. But fear not for he is a total opposite(he is like a small boy lah)! His antics will make your jaw drop.
Just look at what jokes he came up with:

Q: What do you call an alien from Mars who lives in Singapore?
A: MARS-ling! (Marsling)

I decided to challenge him by giving him a piece of my mind. I created this joke a long time ago but have yet to test it on him.

FINALLY!!

After days (which seems like years) of not blogging, i finally am typing a new post!..yay! Ive been busy lah this days. OKlah i admit, i was lazy! Hehe..cant help it what. I have to catch up on my sleep, slack, going out, play and eveything else you can associate with me. Certainly not studying lah.

So as you all know, Singapore just had a holiday on 1st October to celebrate hari raya. And maybe childrens day also lah, for some of you at least.

This year's celebration was very similar to recent years, but with a sense of joy and laughter accompanying us everywhere we went.

As you can see, we have a new family member. This cheeky little girl here is my niece, whom we call Syasha. She did join us last year for celebrations, but was too young then and could barely walk nor talk.

This year, she serves as the catalyst that helped transform our raya into a memorable one. Lets look at what she has done.

She tears open green packets given to her, thus revealing the amount of money inside.

She poses like Heidi Klum when people are about to take a photo of her.

But when i wanna take a photo WITH her, she is reluctant to do so.

And look, she even acts innocent for the camera! Haha!

Anyway i still love her cause she's my niece. But i wonder if she will grow up to like me..hmm....

So like every first day of raya, we would ask for each other's forgiveness and take a family photo together.

Wah!..models lah seh!!

Me and my sister has this 'thing' for kuih tarts.

Every house we visit, we would aim for their pineapple tarts. After trying, we would share our views with our mum and depending on her mood, she would then decide to try it or not. I guess we are kind of searching for the best kuih tart in Singapore. If you think that your kuih tart meets our expectations, then do tell me ok? Oh anyway i just remebered that i did something bad to my brother-in-law. I found a burnt kuih tart in my grandma's house and gave it to him. He ate it unknowingly. When i asked him how it tasted like, he said "Oklah like normal what". In my heart, i was laughing my ass out! Wakakakakakaka!

Btw, talking about grandma, look what my grandmother did to me!

So that was the first day of raya. A huge burden was lifted of all my family member's chest.

Second day of raya, i didnt really take lots of photo. The only interesting photo i took is this:post raya kitchen!

So raya with family members is over. Right now, im eagerly waiting for raya with friends. Cant wait to meet the secondary school people. Though the guys often meet for soccer kickabouts, we still have our own differences and we have to seek each other's forgiveness.

!YAY!!YAY!!YAY!!YAY!

Today officialy marks my last day of part-time work with Keppel. Was supposed to end on Tuesday. But there were still lots of things to be done(and maybe also because i'm good),so they called me back to stay another day.

When i started work,it seemed so dull and boring! I wanted my time to end quickly. But when my last day came,i was reluctant to leave. As happy as i was,i felt very sad too.

During this short stint of time,the importance of studies and its benefits was further drilled into me. Foreigners are more hardworking then us, and right now with just a diploma alone,you cant get a satisfying pay. Even a degree might not get you what you want of your expected salary.
Furthermore, my peers who are just 5years my senior are advising me to study hard. Not the kind of things you would be hearing from them.

No doubt knowledge is endless. But there will come a time when you just cant study as hard as u wished. Therefore it is now or never. Procrastinate and the time will never come again.

Well that being said,i guess keppel is quite a good place to work. Free transport to-and-fro. The people there are nice too,with many young(not exceeding 26) girls who can go crazy at any moment. Their antics seem to create waves of euphoria among the HR people.

Part of the company also deals in engineering and clean & green energy; something very related to my diploma course.

Who knows..after i graduate,i might be able to join them?

Ok so now with the recent raya outing and my pay cheque which is coming very soon,my pocket is overflowing with greens.

Hello people!! Yay dis is my second post! Haha....

So anywae 2dae's post is about Charcos;the flaming chicken.

Yesterday,i went to break-fast(buka) with my family at charcos.
I got to know about it from my eldest sister. According to her, the eatery serves tremendous barbequed food and ribs! And it is affordable too! So the rest of my family decided to head on down to ANG MO KIO and give it a try!

The amazing thing about charcos is that it is situated in the heartlands. You do not need to dress neatly to dine here. It is tucked in a corner of a coffeeshop at ang mo kio avenue 5. Block 608 to be precise.

The first thing i saw when i reached was this huge banner. My first impression was "Eh,abit ex leh. Not like what my sis told me."

Well maybe that's because i havent seen the food portion and what else they have to offer.

Upon looking and further investigating the menu, i realised that hey,it is actually quite cheap. You can get their signature 1/4 charcos chicken meal with fries/3 salads for just $5.50! Top-up $1 to change your chicken to the portugese chicken.

On the other hand, ribs with chips can be yours for just $7.50! Slightly less than half the price of what is offered at swensens!

This is where they proudly display their charco's and portugese chicken.

The portugese chicken looks burnt, just like portugese egg tarts. But i guess this is due to their marinate, since its supposed to be spicy.

This is their salad bar. Seven different mouth watering salads to choose from. Their seafood salad was superb! There were also avocado chicken salad and tuna pasta salad to name a few.

If you were to order the slimmer meals, you can choose 3 kinds of salad to go with your chicken/ribs/schnitzel.

Charcos not onli serves chicken or ribs or even schnitzel but they also serve kebabs and burgers and briyani too!

This is what my brother in-law ate. 1/4 charco's chicken slimmer meal. He had caesar,egg and seafood salad as his side dish.

As for me, i had ribs with chips. The ribs is quite huge;about 1 & 1/2 times your palm size. As for the chips, there were just too many of them. To be honest, i couldnt finish my meal. And so was the rest of my family. Btw,the pic above is not what i ordered. I got the pic from the internet. Hehe.

Overall, i think that charco's is a great place to go to if your low on cash but want to satisfy your hunger and cravings for barbequed food! That is if you're living in ang mo kio or in that vicinity.

The taste of the food is just average. The portion is humongous. I wouldnt mind going there again in the distant future. But certainly, i wouldn't make it a place to visit often. Its not worth the time and money to go there, eat, and then go home;especially since im living in the West area.

So well, that's just my views. Go and try, and tell me yours! :D
